Restaurants saying thanks to veterans, active-duty military

Some local restaurants are offering discounts to veterans and active-duty members of the military during May, National Military Appreciation Month. Among them:

Bistro 57 at Aliante, 7300 N. Aliante Parkway in North Las Vegas, is offering an $18 three-course meal of salad, spaghetti Bolognese or fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, and creme brulee; 10 percent of proceeds will benefit Operation Warmheart.

Cabo Wabo Cantina at the Miracle Mile Shops, 3663 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering a 20 percent discount on all food and drinks to military men and women, active and veterans, all month.

And PBR Rock Bar &Grill, also at the Miracle Mile Shops, is offering a 20 percent discount on total dining bills during May. Additionally, it’ll donate 5 percent of sales on May 25 to the USO. …

PBR Rock Bar will celebrate the Kentucky Dinner on Saturday with $24.99 bourbon flights all day. …

Honey Salt, 1031 S. Rampart Blvd., will feature food and drink specials in honor of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. They include The Hot Brown Pizza, Derby Pie and mint juleps. …

Whisk(e)y Wednesdays will return this week to Andre’s at the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The Amrut tastings are from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight and are $35; call 702-798-7151. …

The wines of Husic Vineyards will be featured in a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Marche Bacchus, 2620 Regatta Drive. The four-course dinner, with an entree of tenderloin of beef, is $99. To reserve, call 702-804-8008.

Marche Bacchus also has announced some additions to its menu, under the guidance of chef Alex Stratta. They include Maine lobster and rock shrimp semolina pasta, warm salad of duck confit, veal osso bucco and creamy polenta with wild mushrooms. …

Border Grill at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans a prepare-for-Mother’s Day class from 10 a.m. to noon May 10. It’ll include brunch, cocktails, a recipe booklet and tips on providing such dishes as chorizo skillet chilaquiles, smoked fish tostadas and a mimosa trio. It’s $100; call 702-632-7403.
