Mining companies holding career fair Monday at UNLV

Two big mining companies have scheduled a Monday career fair at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Barrick Gold Corp., the world's largest gold miner, and Geotemps, a mining industry staffing agency, have scheduled the job fair for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the UNLV Student Union.

The companies listed more than 60 openings in Northern Nevada for electrical engineers, electricians, operations supervisors, project superintendents, administrative assistants, miners, geologists, equipment operators and safety and health coordinators, among others.

Geotemps said it will work one-on-one with candidates from other fields to determine how their skills might fit mining.
