Fashion finds a home at The Bungalow

What does a treasure trove look like? It might look an awful lot like The Bungalow at 7024 W. Charleston Blvd.

The new shop is unassuming on the outside, where its bright turquoise and orange logo marks its place. Inside, it is full of eye-catching items, an eclectic mix for multiple facets of one's life, including clothing, home decorating, children's items, furniture and gifts.

"The Bungalow is a fashion and home mecca, if you will," owner/operator Meital Bronstein said. "What we really want to focus on is to service our local community first with providing hard-to-find brands and items."

In one corner was a table and chairs by Royal Botania. A display case held pewter spoons. Next to them was a pink plastic pony, a quirky addition that gives insight into Bronstein's personality. Fashions feature top brands, including Frankie B, Current/Elliott, Enza Costa and Equipment Apparel. Offering labels that are difficult to find is Bronstein's mantra.

Many Summerlin-area residents will no doubt remember the proprietor from Talulah G Inc., a fashion boutique that had four locations, including one in Boca Park. That business was hit hard after the economy started its nosedive, and she had to sell it.

The timing could not have been worse. The demise of Talulah G - she has no claim to the renamed Boutique Talulah at Fashion Show mall - was coupled with her divorce, and Bronstein found herself restarting her life. She took a "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade" approach, kept in contact with devoted clients and began envisioning what her newest venture would entail. Now those plans have reached fruition.

The Bungalow's grand opening was May 22, and the store was bustling with shoppers.

Kamila Elgwaidi, a Summerlin resident, said her first impression was of "a cute little bungalow (filled) with funky, interesting outfits. Meital has an amazing fashion sense. I've shopped for many years with her. Whenever a woman needs new outfits, you stop by Meital's, and you leave looking sexy and feeling wonderful."

Kristina Kravavica used to live overseas. When visiting her parents in Las Vegas, she would shop at Talulah G in Boca Park.

"I would have her FedEx me boxes to Abu Dhabi and pick out fashions," she said. "Whatever I wanted, I'd keep. Whatever I didn't, I'd send back, and when I moved here permanently, that's when I met Meital, and now I shop in here at The Bungalow. ... It's nice to see her back in business."

For this new venture, the entrepreneur collaborated with Unica Home to be able to offer brands such as Carlo Moretti, L'Objet and Prandina.

The Bungalow, she said, is a much more manageable space than Talulah G.

"This, it's small. It kind of reminds me of my first store, which was on the Strip downtown," Bronstein said. "It was a 400-square-foot space, and ... I grew it into a bigger business, and I kind of hope that happens here but in a different way. This is a little more organic. I'm really big on the home and fashion concept, and I don't think a lot of people are doing that ... I like having that urban, comfortable, 'know your neighbors' location. I like that there's a shoe repair guy next to me and a little salon ... It's not shabby chic in here; it's very modern. It's kind of a juxtaposition of what's going on outside. You walk in, and it's really fresh."

She said she plans to expand to more locations within five years.
