James Cobbs named GM of new Findlay North Volkswagen

You might say that veteran automobile executive James Cobbs has followed the advice to "Go north, young man."

In this case, the 38-year-old Cobbs accepted the advice while also capitalizing on a golden opportunity to lead the recently opened Findlay North Volkswagen at 7500 Azure Drive, in the northwest valley.

Never one to shy from a challenge, Cobbs jumped at the chance to become general manager of the dealership especially considering that Volkswagen is one of the hottest products in the country and the dealership was missing from the northwest valley.

The move also marked the third promotion with Findlay Auto in 11 years for Cobbs, who fell in love with the car business when he sold his first car in Las Vegas in 1994. Other positions within the Findlay Automotive Group have included serving as general manager of Honda and Acura dealerships in the Valley Automall.

"This opening has been absolutely incredible" said Cobbs, a native of Shaker Heights, Ohio. "There was no question that Volkswagen was needed in the northwest valley, especially considering our sales results since our grand opening Feb. 27."

Cobbs added that Volkswagen's rich history has spiraled upwards even more with the company's new product lines. The lineup covers all age demographics.

Among the strongest-selling product lines now available at Findlay North are Jetta, Passat, Beetle and the Touareg, a sport utility vehicle diesel that gets 28 miles per gallon on the highway.

"When speaking of the history of Volkswagen, a person need only think about the VW Beetle that has been a part of the company for decades," Cobbs said. "In addition, the confidence that Findlay Automotive Group has in Volkswagen is evidenced by the fact that this dealership is the fourth Volkswagen store the Findlay Group has opened in the state."
