Four teens held in BB gun shooting spree
Four teenagers have been arrested in the shooting of BB guns at people, cars and homes over the weekend, Henderson police said Wednesday.
The teens arrested were Daniel G. Duncan, 19, Adolfo Ortiz, 18, Frank Rodriguez, 18, and a 17-year-old boy whose name was not released because he is a minor.
The teens were arrested on nine counts of battery, 18 counts of tampering with a vehicle, two counts of destroying property and eight counts of aiming a gun at a person. Three of them were booked into the Henderson Detention Center. The 17-year-old was booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Facility.
Police said the incidents began Friday and continued through the weekend. People were targeted randomly, police said. Most of those struck suffered minor injuries, but a 13-year-old girl was hospitalized.
Police said they received reports of eight people being shot at or struck, 18 complaints of windows being shot and reports of two houses sustaining damage. Initially, shots were fired at windows of parked cars, then at people, police said. Police also received reports of moving cars being shot at.
Several witnesses were able describe a vehicle fleeing the scenes and gave partial license plate numbers.
On Monday, police traced the vehicle to Foothill High School and could see BB guns in plain view in the vehicle, which led to the arrests of the suspects.
Late last year, other Henderson teens were arrested in a paintball shooting spree. Police arrested three teens in connection with eight incidents in which people were shot with a paintball gun.
