Body of suspected drowning victim found on Lake Mohave

A Henderson man missing since Aug. 7 was found dead Tuesday morning in Nevada Bay on Lake Mohave.

The National Park Service confirmed that the body, which was reported by a park visitor, was Andre Battle, 25.

Drowning is suspected as the cause of death, but the Clark County coroner will make the official determination.

Battle was with a group of people in a boat on Lake Mohave. They went from Cottonwood Cove about 2½ miles north to Arizona Bay, on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave.

A witness reported that Battle went swimming about 11 a.m. but was only in the water for two or three minutes when he said he couldn't breathe.

The witness turned away for a moment, and when she looked back, Battle was gone, according to the Park Service.

Park rangers and state game wardens searched daily for him.

The water depth in the area ranges from 80 to 100 feet. Battle was not wearing a life jacket.
