Beautiful, beautiful baseball
It's March fellow Complete Las Vegans. And you know what that means -- spring training is here.
Christina and I made our way down to Scottsdale for our first taste of spring baseball. As we always do, we visited the San Francisco Giants facility in Old Town Scottsdale.
Of course, Giants fans were giddy with their team's World Series win last year. Rightfully so.
Here's a few glimpses of the weekday -- weekday mind you! -- game we caught under sunny skies and temps in the high 70s.
All Las Vegans ought to put spring ball on their calendars. It's a good, easy and cheap get away.

The lineup for the day's game.

Pitching great of old, Gaylord Perry, signs baseballs before the Giants game. I watched him carefully and didn't see him go once to his mouth before signing a ball. And that is a true example of an "inside baseball" comment.

A budding spring tree, fans in the outfield and the Giants ballpark. Beautiful.

The "cheap seats" in the outfield grass fill up fast at $18 a ticket. Beer cost $7.50 a plastic cup. That's a bargain in MLB these days ... more's the pity.

Giants popped a ground rule double and a home run in the first inning this fine day. But you won't see it if you're staring down at your cell phone.

Anything you can think of to put a SF emblem on, you can probably get here or at one of the other souvenir shops at the park.
