Soutbound U.S. 95 reopens near Valley View after fatal crash

Southbound traffic on U.S. Highway 95 was closed to traffic early Friday after a man was killed in a crash near the exit to Valley View Boulevard, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened just before 5 a.m. when an SUV, traveling at a high rate of speed, entered the travel lane of a Ford Ranger causing the crash, NHP trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. The collision caused both cars to rollover.

A man in the SUV was ejected and died on the freeway, Stuenkel said. The two occupants of the pickup had minor injuries and were not taken to a hospital.

Four travel lanes were blocked off for about two and a half hours, slowing the morning commute from the north and west sides of the Las Vegas Valley.

The identity of the man who died will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified.
