UNLV’s Dana Finkelstein, a sophomore from Chandler, Ariz., was named Mountain West women’s golfer of the week on Wednesday. She tied for eighth out of 83 golfers at the Farms Invitational in Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., this week and leads all conference golfers this season with a 74.48 stroke average.

One early summer evening, my friend Ron and I decided to shoot our muzzleloading rifles in the remnants of an old gravel pit located in the desert near my home. At the time, such activity was still legal in that area, and we wanted to take advantage of the somewhat cooler temperatures that come with the setting sun.
