Philadelphia newspaper isn’t a Wynn fan

The first paragraph in this morning’s editorial in the Philadelphia Inquirer says this:

“Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn is being touted as the latest savior for the foundering Foxwoods casino. But Wynn's vision for the Foxwoods site is further confirmation that casino gambling in Philadelphia will be a down-market industry, preying mostly on the poor and elderly who can least afford it.”

I guess the writers are not too keen on Wynn Resort’s plans for a stand-alone casino in Philadelphia near the Delaware River that he said last week would have 3,000 slot machines and table games.

"It won't be slots in a box. It will be the cutest place we've ever built," Wynn said during his company’s fourth quarter earnings conference call last Thursday. "It will be the Wynn signature presentation with all the bells and whistles."

Reports are that Wynn plans to call the casino, “SW.”

“The place sounds so cheesy it's not even clear that Wynn will put his full name on the joint,” the Inquirer editorial stated. “Instead, he is considering putting just his initials on the casino.”
