Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas shuts doors

Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas was closed Tuesday because of lease issues with the property owners. The adjoining hotel, Hilton Lake Las Vegas, remains open.

The casino and hotel were purchased in November 2012 by Newage Lake Las Vegas from previous owner Village Hospitality.

The hotel, formerly the Ritz-Carlton, was rebranded Hilton Lake Las Vegas. The casino continued to operate under the previous owner’s lease.

“It is very unfortunate that we are unable to continue operations at this time. Lake Las Vegas is recovering beautifully and we are hopeful that either we have resolution of the issues or that Newage has plans to re-open the property quickly,” Casino MonteLago General Manager Marcus Suan said in a statement.

Casino MonteLago closed once before on March 14, 2010, when the Ritz-Carlton announced it would close its doors in May of that year. The casino reopened in 2011.
