Nevada Gaming Commission chairman named to new term

Nevada Gaming Commission Chairman Pete Bernhard was officially reappointed to a new four-year term heading the regulatory panel on Wednesday by Gov. Brian Sandoval.

Previously the chairman of the state Ethics Commission, Bernhard was named gaming commission chairman in 2001. He was reappointed to a full four-year terms in 2003 and in 2007.

"At a time when the gaming industry faces unprecedented modernization efforts and we are working to maintain Nevada's position as the gold standard of gaming regulation, Pete has the experience and day-to-day knowledge to help Nevada continue to move forward," Sandoval said in a statement. I have tremendous respect for his work and I look forward to his continued leadership in our state's most important industry."

48-hour strike planned at off-Strip resort

Roughly 700 hospitality workers at an off-Strip casino plan to walk off the job for two days after lengthy contract negotiations continue, union officials said Wednesday.
