The stock market has been bouncing back and forth for several weeks, pulled down a couple hundred points by one day's bad economic news and rebounding by the same amount a few days later by more positive reports. Although the Dow Jones industrial average has varied by several hundred points over a few months' time, the Dow has settled into an area hovering around 10,000 for several weeks.
