Economist Allan Meltzer to speak to the Economic Club of Las Vegas
The Economic Club of Las Vegas, a group of academics, politicians and business leaders, will host its first event on Thursday and feature Dr. Allan Meltzer, an economics professor with Carnegie Mellon University and expert on monetary policy.
Meltzer, who served as acting member of the Council of Economic Advisors to President Ronald Reagan, is expected to discuss the nation’s economy, the Federal Reserve under new chairwoman Janet Yellen, and other economic issues.
Founded in October, the Economic Club of Las Vegas is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization designed to provide an independent forum for economic and political debate. The club’s strategic goal is to achieve national recognition by attracting well-known speakers to Las Vegas.
