Growth continues for Fashion Show mall

The Fashion Show mall can’t keep up with demand from retailers.

“We really have a waiting list for Fashion Show. We don’t have enough space for everyone who wants to be here,” said Janet LaFevre, General Growth Properties senior marketing manager for Las Vegas.

For instance, the shopping mall is welcoming a new Disney Store on Aug. 7. In October an Urban Outfitters is set to open, and Apple and Diesel both are under construction for major expansions.

Both companies are trying to finish before the critical fourth-quarter holiday shopping season.

Although she couldn’t release numbers, LaFevre said traffic and sales at Fashion Show are extremely strong, healthy and positive.

“Sales truly are on an upward trend and have been continuously so in 2012 and 2013,” LaFevre said.

Expect there to be a bit more gold on the table next year.

Home accessories designers have been busy adding gold accents to items such as serving bowls and flatware on products expected to hit stores in six to nine months. The trend and many others were revealed in the First Look sessions during the 2013 Summer Las Vegas Market at the World Market Center.

Another trend coming soon to stores is an increased iridescence and luster in neutral-colored items including sofas and chairs. Expect beiges and creams to shine, while trophy-shaped accents took center stage in many showrooms. Lamps, vases and bowls all have been created with the distinctly unique shape for the coming seasons.

The Vision Council probably has the coolest flash drive ever.

In support of its awareness campaign, Eyecessorize, the group sent out publicity packets with a fall 2013 trend book and corresponding drive packed with additional material. The drive itself looks like just another credit card-esque item. But in a James Bond-like twist, a small piece of the card extends out for easy attachment to a device.

How fashionable.
