Las Vegas Hilton getting new name

A well-established Las Vegas hotel is getting a new name.

The Las Vegas Hilton will be renamed LVH-Las Vegas Hotel and Casino on Jan. 3, according to an advertising feature in the Los Angeles Times.

The hotel had been considering new names since Hilton Worldwide said that as of Jan. 1, its franchise agreement with Colony Resorts LVH Acquisitions LLC, owner and operator of the hotel, would be terminated.

Messages left Tuesday with the Las Vegas Hilton were not returned.

Neither Hilton Worldwide nor Colony Resorts has commented on the reasons for terminating what will have been an eight-year business relationship at the end of the current contract.

The current three-year agreement, signed in 2009, gave Colony Resorts the right to use the Hilton brand, and it links the property to Hilton's "Honors" loyalty program.
