Medical clinic opens at McCarran; pharmacy to follow
A medical clinic has opened at McCarran International Airport and within weeks, a full-service pharmacy will become a part of it.
McCarran Medical Clinic and Pharmacy will serve local residents, airport employees and travelers.
Located in Terminal 1 near the Transportation Security Administration’s security checkpoint for the A and B gates, the facility had a soft opening over the weekend and will offer retail products beginning Friday. By June, a full-service pharmacy will open.
The facility is being co-managed by Stan Wasserkrug and owner David Inman.
Comparable to a full-size drug store, the facility will give customers access to prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, travel-approved products, snacks, magazines and toiletries.
The clinic will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the pharmacy, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the store, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
McCarran, the ninth busiest airport in North America, serves about 42 million passengers a year.
Airport clinics and pharmacies that cater specifically to travelers, including flight clearance, vacation supply prescriptions and urgent-care services are rare in the United States. San Francisco International Airport has one and similar clinics and pharmacies are more common in other countries.
