Multimillion-dollar events center coming to Fremont Street

Another home for entertainment and events is coming to downtown Las Vegas.

The Venue Las Vegas is under construction across the street from Container Park on East Fremont Street, with the 38,430-square-foot facility scheduled to open in the spring.

Victor Perrillo, CEO and founder of The Venues Group, is building the multimillion-dollar events center at Eighth and Fremont streets. The address is 750 E. Fremont St.

The building will be marketed to host weddings, conferences, live entertainment, shows and special events. It’s an enclosed building, in contrast to other open venues such as the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center at Third Street and Bridger Avenue across from the D Las Vegas.

The Venue Las Vegas can accommodate 2,000 people. The first-floor reception area can hold 830, a theater can hold 700 to 800 and a banquet room can hold 420. There’s classroom space for 253 to 300 and conference rooms for 100 to 200.

Its Las Vegas counterpart in Arizona is The Venue Scottsdale, which opened in 2006. That’s also the headquarters for the venue business for Perrillo.

“The Venue Las Vegas is a welcomed addition to downtown, and we’re looking forward to it opening,” said Tony Hsieh, founder of the Downtown Project, the $350 million redevelopment initiative that he started to inject new life into East Fremont Street.

“We are excited to see individuals like Victor Perrillo taking an interest in downtown Las Vegas, and seeing the potential in bringing new and diverse business opportunities to our growing neighborhood,” Hsieh said in a statement.

Although the project is in the heart of the East Fremont area where Downtown Project is a dominant player, it is not being financed by Hsieh’s redevelopment initiative.

Perrillo broke ground last summer.

“Opening The Venue Las Vegas has been a longtime goal of mine and I am excited that the time is finally here,” he said. “As a company, we are at an exciting milestone, expanding our offerings and locations.”

The events center is projected to create about 200 jobs.

“Bringing corporate and special events to downtown Las Vegas is a boon for all downtown businesses,” Fremont Street Experience President Jeff Victor said. “I’m excited for the opening of The Venue Las Vegas.”

The design includes a main-floor ballroom with a built-in 654-square-foot stage; a first-level lounge and bar that will be open to the public; a second level with three multifunctional event spaces and outdoor patio; and a rooftop lounge and bar that overlooks downtown Las Vegas.

“We’re giving brides, event planners and destination management companies even more options to consider for their lavish private events,” Perrillo said.
