Six AAA sites to close in Southern Nevada

AAA Nevada said Wednesday it will close six Southern Nevada locations and two in Northern Nevada, eliminating 50 positions.

AAA also announced the closing of a total of 17 offices in Northern California, Utah and Nevada and 250 positions in total. Another 50 open jobs will not be filled in the three states.

AAA spokeswoman Jenny Mack did not have information about how many of the eliminated positions are now staffed.

She declined to describe the severance being offered displaced workers.

Even after the closings, AAA has 30 percent more locations than it did five years ago in the area, she said.

The AAA call center in Las Vegas, which employs 475 workers, is not affected the layoffs, she said.

Most affected branches will shut for the last time on March 27 but 11 branches will remain in Nevada.

The Las Vegas locations being closed are at 8174 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Suite 115; 111 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite 130; 4965 S. Fort Apache Road, Suite 105; and 6510 N. Buffalo Drive, Suite 130.

Also, AAA will shut the North Las Vegas office at 5465 Simmons St., Suite 1, and the Henderson office at 72 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 135.
