Super Bowl weekend expected to be extra tourism kick

Super Bowl weekend is expected to ring up some super numbers in terms of tourism.

The game betweeen the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos is expected to draw 292,000 visitors, up 2.5 percent from last year, a spokeswoman for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said.

The game will be a kick for Las Vegas hotels and motels — occupancy is projected at 86 percent, a 2.4 percent increase from 2013.

Weekend visitors are projected to drop an extra $113.7 million in to the Las Vegas economy exclusive of gambling, up 2.9 percent from last year’s Super Bowl weekend, the LVCVA spokeswoman said.

In contrast, officials said tourism numbers for all of 2013 were down 0.1 percent.
