Colorado man with ties to Nevada wanted in abduction case

A fugitive from Denver with known ties to Nevada is accused of abducting a man in Colorado, holding him for ransom and physically assaulting him.

Authorities are seeking Marco Cota-Tamaura, a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 210 pounds, according to the FBI. He has brown hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his forearms.

The Lakewood Police Department in Colorado responded to an abduction at a business on Aug. 30.

Four men in masks entered the store with guns, at least one of which was an “AK-47” style rifle, grabbed a man and forced him into a red sedan before firing a single shot, according to the FBI.

The following day, the man’s family started receiving demands for ransom in exchange for his safe return. The victim was released Saturday morning.

Cota-Tamaura was one of several suspects identified, and a Colorado arrest warrant was issued. He has known ties to Texas, Nevada and Mexico and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the FBI.

Anyone with information regarding Cota-Tamaura may call Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or text DMCS and the message to 274637. Callers may remain anonymous and receive up to $5,000 for helping solve the crime.
