$5,000 reward offered in Key Largo fire

Investigators have determined the fire at the Key Largo hotel-casino was caused by a person, although it’s unclear if the blaze was intentional.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the March 28 fire.

“This was a very dangerous and destructive fire, and we are actively seeking information that will allow us to identify who started it,” Clark County Fire Chief Bertral Washington said in a statement. “We hope the reward money will help encourage anyone who has information about this fire to come forward and contact the ATF or Crime Stoppers of Nevada.”

It’s unclear if the fire was arson or accidental.

The abandoned hotel was a popular spot for homeless people in the area, according to officials.

The fire damage caused was estimated at $4.5 million.

Anyone with information about the fire can call the ATF Las Vegas office at 347-5910 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
