Arizona man caught driving missing woman’s Jeep charged with murder

KINGMAN, Ariz. — The Mohave County Sheriff’s office announced an arrest, the recovery of human remains and a confession that turns a missing persons case into a homicide.

Agency spokeswoman Trish Carter said in a news release that James David Collins, 50, of Yucca, was arrested in Mexico on a weapons offense while driving the 1994 Jeep Wrangler of Cynthia Horn, 54, also of Yucca. Horn had been reported missing in October 2014.

Collins was released from custody in Mexico, said Carter, who did not provide the dates of Collins’ arrest or release. Arizona authorities arrested Collins at his mother’s home in Yuma on Tuesday.

“Investigators were able to obtain a confession from Collins. who stated that he killed Cynthia Horn in Yucca and transported her body to Yuma County where he buried her on family trust land,” Carter said in a news release.

She said human remains were recovered on the property and that Collins faces charges for second-degree murder.
