Armored car guard robbed at outlet mall

Las Vegas police were searching for two men who robbed an armored car guard making his rounds at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets mall Friday.

The guard was walking at the mall south of the Spaghetti Bowl when the men attacked him with baseball bats at 11:40 a.m., officer Jose Hernandez said.

One man grabbed the money bag and they ran. The guard followed, and when one of the robbers turned and started to approach him with a bat, the guard fired a shot from his gun, Hernandez said.

No one was hit by the bullet, and the robbers continued running to a car and escaped.

The car was a light-colored, four-door sedan.

The guard was taken to University Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening .
