Arrest made in Friday fatal shooting; victim identified

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Friday shooting that left an innocent bystander dead.

Anton Louis was booked on murder charges in the death of 28-year-old Derrion Banks.

Las Vegas police said Banks was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight outside his apartment complex at 651 Twain Ave., near Swenson Street.

Police said Banks was standing on a second-floor landing watching two men fight when Lewis fired a shot into the air, striking Banks, who fell back into his apartment and died.

He died from gunshot wounds to the chest and arm, according to the coroner's office.

Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said Banks was not involved in the fight.Contact reporter Mike Blasky at mblasky@reviewjournal.com or 702-383-0283.
