Bettor wants sites claiming ties to him halted
Prominent sports bettor Bill Walters has turned to U.S. District Court to try to stop five websites from trading on his name.
Walters filed the case late Wednesday to stop the betting services, all based on the East Coast, advertising that they have a connection to Walters. The services sell information on sports betting for as much as $20,000 a month.
The websites include cooperspicks.com, billywalterssportsbettingpicks.com, jmpicks.com and the related jmpicks.net, sportssyndicate.com and howtoearnmoneybynet.com.
Individuals and companies related to the sites are also named as defendants.
According to court papers, Walters has spent millions of dollars over the years to build his technology and gaming analysis capabilities, then surrounded himself with layers of security.
"Mr. Walters does not share his secrets with members of the public, or with others in the sports betting industry, because doing so would undoubtedly change the odds on the very bets he is making," the court papers say.
