Boyfriend arrested in Arizona woman’s death

Arizona authorities have arrested a Fort Mohave man in the death of his girlfriend a week ago.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s office said Marilyn Burdick, 62, was fully dressed when her body was pulled from her backyard swimming pool in the 5200 block of South Antelope Drive on June 26.

Agency spokeswoman Trish Carter said Burdick lived at the residence with her boyfriend Louis Hugh Plunkett, 54, who told investigators she fell in their home the day before she was found in their pool.

Carter said various inconsistencies triggered a homicide investigation. The autopsy showed she died from blunt force trauma.

Deputies pulled Plunkett over on Interstate 40, just a half mile across the California border Tuesday morning.

Plunkett is being held in the San Bernardino County jail pending extradition to Arizona for first degree murder and tampering with evidence.
