A man killed during a home invasion Monday has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Maurice Robert Howard, 35, of Los Angeles.

Howard was shot after he and three other suspects forced their way into an apartment at 2901 N. Rainbow Blvd., attempting to rob the two residents inside, according to Las Vegas police.

When the suspects fled the apartment, both residents retrieved handguns and shot at the suspects in the parking lot, police said.

Howard was struck multiple times in the back. He was taken to University Medical Center Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

The other three suspects, two males and a female, remained at large Thursday.

The residents sustained minor injuries from blunt force trauma, according to police.
