Coroner ID’s couple involved in murder-suicide

The woman who killed herself in an apparent murder-suicide in the southwest valley May 6 was identified Sunday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

She was Silke Fensch, 80, of Las Vegas, the coroner’s office said.

Officers were called about 8:30 a.m. May 6 to the 5200 block of South Torrey Pines Drive, near Hacienda Avenue, where they found two bodies, police said.

Fred and Silke Fensch, who police said were husband and wife, were dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

“It appears the female shot the male victim with a handgun and then turned the gun on herself,” police wrote in a release the day the bodies were found.

Silke Fensch died of a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a suicide by the coroner’s office. Her 87-year-old husband also died of a gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a homicide.
