Former CEO sentenced to prison for defrauding investors

Chief U.S. District Judge Roger Hunt today sentenced Connie Farris, 66, the former chief executive officer of failed Global Express Capital Corp., to 12 years in prison for 39 counts of mail fraud and aiding and abetting.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Pugh said she defrauded 700 investors of $36 million and said she showed no remorse.

Farris broke into sobs during her testimony and said she was sorry for victims, but she blamed her employees and didn't admit she was guilty.
