Former Las Vegas youth soccer coach sentenced in rape of teen

A former youth soccer coach who was accused of raping a team member has been sentenced to at least 23 years in prison.

Court records show that Marvin Geovanny Juarez, who coached the Atleticos Club Las Vegas soccer team, pleaded guilty in March to attempted sexual assault of a minor, lewdness with a child, and use of a minor in the production of pornography.

On Monday, District Judge Kathleen Delaney imposed a sentence of 23 years to life in prison. Juarez, 36, received credit for the year he already has spent in custody.

If Juarez is released, he faces lifetime supervision and must register as a sex offender.

Juarez was arrested last year after a 13-year-old team member came forward and described being raped on two occasions inside Juarez’s apartment near the Strip.
