Former NFL linebacker to be released from jail after paying Hard Rock $70,000

Former NFL linebacker Joey Porter on Monday was expected to be released from custody in California after paying $70,000 in restitution to the Hard Rock Casino, according to the Clark County district attorney's office.

Porter was arrested in Bakersfield, Calif., over the weekend after a complaint was filed in Las Vegas charging the former Pittsburgh Steeler with passing a bad check and theft at the casino.

Prosecutor Sam Bateman said Monday that Porter had paid his restitution and the law enforcement hold was canceled.

Porter received markers from the Hard Rock between $5,000 and $20,000 on eight different occasions between June and July, the criminal complaint showed.

The linebacker most recently played for the Arizona Cardinals and spent several seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He retired in July.
