Henderson attorney had stroke before arrest, lawyer says

Henderson personal injury lawyer William K. Errico had a stroke less than a month before he was arrested late last week on felony charges in the theft of $487,698 from two of his clients, his lawyer told a judge Tuesday.

“This man needs medical assistance,” William Terry said in Las Vegas Justice Court as a shackled Errico listened off to the side of the courtroom of Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis with defendants in custody in other cases.

Terry said Errico planned to post $100,000 bail within the next two days.

Lippis set a June 17 status check in the case.

The $100,000 bail was agreed upon after Chief Deputy District Attorney J.P. Raman indicated he was satisfied the money wasn’t coming from any funds belonging to Errico’s clients, Terry said.

Terry declined comment after the brief hearing.

Errico, 53, a member of the State Bar of Nevada since 1998, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center Friday on two counts of theft, one count of exploitation of the elderly and one count of exploitation of a vulnerable person.

Between July 2007 and August 2008, Errico stole $121,485 from a $300,000 insurance settlement he won for Deeann Clark, a 67-year-old woman, according to a criminal complaint filed back in January.

The complaint and a Las Vegas police report of the investigation into Errico’s activities also detailed the theft of $366,213 from another client, Wilfred Bosserman, who was severely injured and institutionalized following an automobile accident. The money is alleged to have been stolen between July 2009 and February 2012 from a $1 million settlement Errico had obtained for Bosserman.

During the investigation, Bosserman’s mother secretly recorded a meeting she had with Errico at his law office to complain about his handling of the insurance settlement, the police report said. Intelligence detectives followed her to the office and remained nearby until she came outside.
