Las Vegas man, 32, arrested in road-rage shooting
A Las Vegas man has been arrested on one charge of attempted murder after shooting a teenager twice in a bout of road rage, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.
Scott Michael Eakens, 32, was at the intersection of Sunset Road and Eastern Avenue about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday when his Jeep Grand Cherokee was rear-ended by a black pickup.
The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old male, drove away from the scene and pulled into a parking lot in the 6200 block of McLeod Drive, where he got out and inspected the front of the vehicle.
Police said Eakens located the truck and pulled his Jeep behind it to block the teenager from leaving. The teen then "entered his vehicle and backed aggressively into the side of the Jeep," a police report said.
Eakens fired multiple times, hitting the teenager once in the head and once in an ear.
The teenager was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries police described as not life-threatening.
Eakens remained at the scene of the shooting, where he was detained.
