Las Vegas police identify officers involved in shooting death

Las Vegas police officials have identified the two officers who shot and killed a man while investigating a domestic disturbance Monday night.

Police said officers Raymond Novack and Nicole Gonzales responded to a call at 2842 Taurus Court, near Las Vegas Boulevard and Pecos Road, about 11:30 p.m. They fired after Luis Carlos Silva, 54, pointed a gun at the officers, police said.

Novack, 39, has been with Las Vegas police since August 2004. Gonzales, 22, has been with the department since September 2006, starting as a cadet.

The two officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave until they are cleared by the department and a psychologist to return to light-duty work.

They will return to full duty if they are cleared by a Clark County coroner's inquest into the death, which has not been scheduled.
