Las Vegas police say suspect tried to escape from patrol car

A man arrested Monday for attempted murder unsuccessfully tried to escape custody through the right rear window of a patrol vehicle en route to the Clark County Detention Center, according to Las Vegas police.

Jacob Reed Lambeth, 35, was arrested in connection with a Sunday burglary in the northeast valley that left a man with severe injuries.

Las Vegas police responded to the scene, a mobile home near Sloan Lane and Lake Mead Boulevard, just before 6 p.m. A man suffering from numerous injuries was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The homicide team was called in for the investigation because of the extent of the victim's injuries.

Lambeth, a Las Vegas man, was booked on one count each of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, mayhem with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and escape of a prisoner charged with a felony, police said.
