Man acquitted of murder in stabbing death

A Clark County jury acquitted a 56-year-old man of murder charges for the stabbing death of another man in January.

Kenneth Glosson on Wednesday was found not guilty of killing 30-year-old Deng Kuangmabior. The jury deliberated for about two hours.

Glosson’s lawyer, Special Public Defender David Schieck, told the jury their defense was simple: “He didn’t do it.”

Deputy special public defender Jeremy Storms added that Glosson was relieved following the verdict. “It was the only outcome he could imagine,” Storms said.

Authorities said Glosson along with Genaro Padilla Jr., 30, beat and stabbed Kuangmabior following an argument at a convenience store where Padilla worked, in the 700 block of Twain Avenue near Swenson Street.

Padilla in March pleaded guilty to battery with use of a deadly weapon and agreed to testify against Glosson at the murder trial. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a murder charge against Padilla.

Padilla testified that Glosson stabbed Kuangmabior, but Schieck said there was no physical evidence to back up the testimony.

“The state didn’t have sufficient evidence to establish that Glosson was the man who committed the crime,” Schieck said.

Glosson was released from the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday, records show.
