Man indicted in January Las Vegas slaying

A 25-year-old man was indicted Friday on a murder charge in connection with the January shooting death of another man.

Michael Smith, also known as Michael Smith Jr., faces one count of murder with a deadly weapon in the Jan. 14 slaying of Las Vegas resident Carlos Randle, 40.

A spokeswoman at the Clark County coroner’s office said Randle died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Smith also faces two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the indictment, Smith also shot at Christopher Devose and Kristoffer Bell on Jan. 14. Devose and Bell both testified before the county grand jury that indicted Smith.

The indictment indicates that Smith has a 2011 conviction in District Court for burglary.

Las Vegas police responded to a report of a shooting on Jan. 14 in the 400 block of Page Street, near Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, and later said a victim had died at the scene.

Records show that Smith was arrested April 16 and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
