Man kills ex-wife, then himself in Henderson

A 54-year-old man fatally shot his ex-wife at her home while their 13-year-old son was in the next room and then turned the gun on himself Tuesday afternoon, Henderson police said.

The identities of the deceased man and 47-year-old woman were not released.

Police said at 5:30 p.m. the teenage boy called 911 directing officers to the home in the 100 block of Andada Drive, near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Arroyo Grande Boulevard.

The boy’s father was found dead inside a car parked in front of the house from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The teen was not injured, police said.

Before the shootings, the man argued with his ex-wife.

The man and woman also had an 11-year-old son who lived with his father. He was unharmed. The children were placed in the care of relatives, police said.

The woman’s death marked the first slaying in Henderson this year, police said.
