Man pleads guilty to murder in roommate shooting

A 48-year-old man who forced his roommate to squeal like a pig before shooting him four times over trivial disagreements pleaded guilty Monday to murder.

Perry Danley's death penalty trial was to start Monday in the January 2009 slaying of Jon Moore. Before jury selection began, prosecutors offered to drop the death penalty if Danley pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon.

Danley agreed and told Judge Valerie Adair that he had been thinking and dreaming of killing Moore for days leading up to the slaying.

A sentencing hearing was set for Oct. 20 before Adair. Danley faces 21 years to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

At the time of his arrest on Jan. 27, 2009, Danley told Las Vegas police that he hid Moore's body in a closet for weeks and waited to see how long it would take for someone to investigate the smell of the rotting corpse.

Danley lived in a house with six roommates near Rancho Drive and Oakey Boulevard. When his roommates complained about the smell, he told them it was from a dead animal in the walls of the house.
