Man shot to death in North Las Vegas identified

A man who was shot and killed Saturday night in North Las Vegas has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Vernon Hill, 28, was shot at an apartment complex at 3301 Civic Center Drive, according to North Las Vegas police.

Police responded to a report of gunfire just before midnight. Officers found Hill on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.

He died at the scene.

Investigators say Hill was standing in a common area inside the complex when he was shot.

The shooter may have run away or left in a vehicle and remains at large. This is the first homicide in North Las Vegas this year.
