A murder suspect who was shot by police last week is still hospitalized.
Las Vegas police said Nathan Benson is at University Medical Center recovering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. After he recovers, he will be booked at Clark County Detention Center.
Officers James Milligan and Praise Cowman shot Nathan Benson on April 29 after Benson charged them with a knife, police said.
Benson is suspected in the stabbing death of 44-year-old Shanna Ralston on April 28. Ralston identified Benson as her attacker shortly before she died.
Police received at least two calls the night of the shooting reporting Benson was seen at Washington Avenue and Torrey Pines Drive, near the location of Ralston’s killing.
The two officers stopped Benson on Rainbow just north of Alta Drive. When the officers instructed Benson to put down his weapon, he instead charged the officers. Milligan fired two shots; Cowman fired once.
Cowman and Milligan have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending an internal review of the shooting.
