Northern Nevada inmate dies

A 56-year-old inmate died Saturday at at the Regional Medical Facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City, the Department of Corrections said Monday.

Officials said an autopsy will have to be done to determine what caused Timothy Evans’ death.

Evans was convicted in Washoe County on three counts of sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping and theft, for which he was sentenced to concurrent sentences of 60 months to life with parole. He was also convicted of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of use of deadly weapon enhancement, corrections officials said.

Evans was incarcerated in the Nevada correctional system on July 18, 1995.

The coroner from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will conduct the autopsy.
