NV Energy warns of robbers posing as company employees

NV Energy is warning ratepayers to look out for robbers posing as company employees.

The power utility said Thursday that people wearing stolen company uniforms are knocking on doors in the Las Vegas Valley to get inside and rob residents.

The company requires field employees to wear ID badges with a photo and employee number, and it's urging customers to not open the door and ask to see an NV Energy badge before they let anyone inside.

Also, NV Energy said its workers never enter a home unless the residents previously scheduled an appointment. Technicians who stop by to make repairs or install equipment may knock on the door to let customers know they're there, but they don't need to enter the home.

NV Energy said it's working on the case with law enforcement. It's also asking customers to call corporate security at 402-5007 to verify workers.
