A Las Vegas police officer is in serious condition after a collision Wednesday afternoon.

The off-duty officer was hit after 2 p.m. Wednesday near Washington Avenue and Main Street. Police believe the driver of the second vehicle may have been under the influence of alcohol.

A police spokesman would not confirm the identity of the off-duty officer. However, police sources told the Review-Journal the officer involved was John Poulsen.

Poulsen was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition. As of Thursday evening, he was listed in serious condition.

Police would not confirm if a suspect was in custody and said the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
