One dead, one injured in two east valley shootings

One person died and another was injured in the east valley Monday night in two shootings less than 20 minutes apart and within a half-mile of each other, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the person killed was not released.

Police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said officers were first alerted to a shooting on the 400 block of Page Street, near Lamb Boulevard and Steward Avenue, at 6:14 p.m. She believed the victim died at the scene.

At 6:30 p.m., police were again called to a shooting on the 4500 block East Bonanza Road, less than a half-mile north from where the first shooting occurred.

A person was transported to the hospital in that shooting with unknown injuries, Meltzer said.

Homicide Section detectives were on the scene of the first shooting and trying to figure out if the two shootings were connected, she said.

Nobody had been arrested in either shooting Monday night.
