A Pahrump teacher's aide was arrested Friday and accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student.
The Nye County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into Amanda McGough, 31, an aide at Pahrump Valley High School and Rosemary Clark Middle School, earlier in the day.
McGough admitted to the relationship when questioned by officers, according a press release from the sheriff's office. She said the relationship with the Pahrump Valley student started no later than April.
None of the sexual encounters happened on campus, the release stated.
Nevada law allows children 16 and older to engage in consensual sexual conduct with adults who aren't school staffers. But certain school staff are prohibited from such conduct with students under the age of 18.
McGough was booked into the Nye County Detention Center on multiple charges and held on $12,500 bail.
