Police: burglary suspect shot in northwest valley

A burglary suspect was shot by a homeowner in the northwest valley Monday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.

According to Lt. Dan Zehnder, a homeowner was asleep in his house in the 3600 block of Marmalade Lane, near Rainbow Boulevard and Gowan Road. Shortly after 3 p.m., the suspect entered the house from the downstairs backdoor, Zehnder said. The noise awoke the homeowner who got his firearm and hid.

The suspect made his way upstairs and confronted the homeowner. The homeowner then shot the suspect and ran out of the house to call police.

After police arrived at the home near Rainbow Boulevard and Gowan Road, they received another call from the residence. The man who was shot had called police asking for medical assistance, Zehnder said.

The extent of the suspect’s injuries is unknown.
