Police honor top cops, celebrate 40 years of department
The Las Vegas Metropolitan police department turned 40 years old Monday and will celebrate the milestone by honoring it’s top officers of the year.
Thirty officers will be honored at “Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge” on July 12 at Red Rock Resort to mark the anniversary and award medals to officers for their distinguished work for the department.
“We are an agency that went from serving a small town to a metropolitan city visited by millions each year,” said Sheriff Doug Gillespie. “We are celebrating the people who made this agency what it is today and shining a spotlight on our officers who are the backbone of this organization.”
