Police say man, 20, held in attack on two girls at bus stop
A 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, hours after he attacked two girls at a bus stop, Las Vegas police said.
Abdul Munem Jumaalkam was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a recommended charge of lewdness with a minor younger than 14.
Police spokesman Marcus Martin said the attack occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. at a bus stop in the 3100 block of Castlewood Drive, near Decatur Boulevard and Penwood Avenue.
Martin said the pants of a girl who was about 6 were pulled down, and she screamed and ran around a corner. He said that after the suspect pulled the girl's pants down, he tried to physically take another girl.
Nearby adults intervened and tried to detain the man, but he got away.
Police said later Wednesday that the suspect tried to remove clothing from the two girls.
Jumaalkam was arrested at Cashman Park shortly before 11 a.m., Martin said.
